Blind fundraiser to take on Three Peaks Challenge

Thanks to Colin for sharing news of this skydive taking place tomorrow (Tuesday) and Three Peaks Challenge in July. Ed

The news about the research into Retinitis Pigmentosa, a blinding eye condition caused by defective genes, is so positive that we think sight can be restored in the near future.

To ensure that the research is kept at a pace, two events have been planned in the next few weeks, not only to raise funds but also awareness.

Sammii’s skydive
We are lucky to have an entertainer at Whitecliff Bay holiday Park taking part in a skydive on Tuesday 23rd June at Sandown airport.

Sammii Storey has no connection with RP Fighting Blindness but just wants to help the charity, and it is good to have someone else taking over the challenges!

To sponsor Sammii go to Just Giving.

Three Peaks Challenge
Linda and Colin McArthur (who has lost his sight to RP) will be taking part in the three Peaks Challenge, Climbing Snowdon, Scarfell Pike and Ben Nevis between 20th – 25th July. We have never climbed a mountain before never mind three, so please dig deep and sponsor us through Just Giving.

Both events have been well supported so far by family and friends, plus holidaymakers at Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park and customers and staff of the (not so) Wonky café on Whitecliff Bay beach.

Rock the Bay
It is also hoped that further fundraising can take place at the Rock the Bay event at Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park, on 3rd/4th July, where a film of Sammii’s skydive will be shown on the outdoor cinema screen.

If you have RP there is an Isle of Wight group meeting on the second Monday of every month at Landguard Manor, Shanklin, for more details please contact Linda or Colin McArthur on 07935 747332.
