Rib being towed

Jet skiers and charity rib racers rescued after engine trouble

Thanks to Mark for sharing details of latest shouts for Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat. Ed

The Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat was called out twice last weekend by the Coastguard.

The first on Saturday at 2pm to a Jet ski 3/4 mile off Shanklin that was drifting with mechanical failure.

The two young gentlemen on board the vessel were transferred to our lifeboat and the jet ski was taken in tow back to Shanklin beach shore.

Engine trouble for charity racers
The second call was to a seven meter rib called Power Teck, with a broken down engine from Hayling Island. Two persons were on board for a race around the Island with 150 other ribs raising money for Macmillan.

We took them in tow as far as Bembridge, where the tow was transferred to Bembridge Lifeboat, where it was taken back to Hayling Island. We returned home to refuel and rehouse the boat.
