Thanks to Bryn for this latest news. Ed

Romsey based Onetwenty Motorsports is the latest company to back Island Speedway. The company that sells all sorts of Motocross spares, clothing and safety equipment is led by brothers James and George Purchase who very keen to get more involved.

Barry Bishop from Island Speedway commented,

“It’s great to have James and George supporting us. Onetwenty has a big following in Motocross and are now keen to get more active in speedway and one way in which they will be helping the club is by supplying our proposed training school with kit and safety gear.

“Although I have known the brothers for many years, it’s thanks to Dave Stevens from SBS EPOS for making the connection via the Island Speedway Business Club.”

James Purchase said,

“It’s great news that speedway is returning to the Island and we are happy Onetwenty Motorsports can help to achieve this. We are getting more involved with speedway now, supplying helmets, gloves, goggles and protection equipment to many riders and have sponsored quite a few this year. You might even see me back on a speedway bike in the not too distant future and I aim to attend the speedway school on the island as much as I can.”

Gary Ball Racing joins Island rider support team
We are also proud to announce that Gary Ball Racing Ltd will be sponsoring both riders and the club in the coming seasons.

The Leighton Buzzard based company has all manner of speedway and grasstrack racing kit available from speedway and grasstrack bike frames to Forcefield undersuits and back protectors to Point-two air jackets for rider safety.

Barry Bishop said,

“I have known Gary for many years and we often used to compete against each other on the Speedway tracks although Gary probably spent more time
back then grasstracking. We have kept in contact over the years and he’s become really interested in what we’re doing of the island even attending the fans forum we held. Gary and I looked at various options where he could help our team riders but I am really looking forward to him helping at “My First Skid’ sessions when his diary allows.”

Gary himself said,

“I have carefully watched the Island team’s progress in getting speedway back on track and can’t wait to see the first bikes on the race track. I know there has been an enormous amount of work completed to get to this stage and I would certainly like to help in some way. I have in the past had two sponsored riders riding for the club in Jason Bunyan and Paul Starke so I have already been connected to the club. I know we would like to bring in some new youngsters to the sport and I would be willing to assist in this in some way.”
