Good turn leads to lost glasses: Can you help?

OnTheWight reader Chris Bonney appeals to readers for help in tracking down these German visitors. Ed

I met two very nice German women this afternoon that had just arrived in Ventnor and had found themselves in a little distress.

They were having problems getting their right-hand-drive hire car into reverse from an awkward spot at the junction of Mitchell Avenue, Grove Road and Southgrove Road opposite the entrance to the industrial estate.

They asked if I wouldn’t mind reversing the car for them, having judged that I was a) British and therefore had a special affinity with pedals on the wrong side of the car and b) without any faculty to say ‘But I haven’t driven a manual car in five years’.

Having caused them momentarily to rue their poor judgement I managed on the third attempt to cajole the car in reverse out of its tight spot.

Unfortunately, I realized after they driven off that I had left my driving glasses in their car.

If anybody knows who they are, can you ask them to give me a call on (01983) 855 855.
