Unwell yachtsman sparks lifeboat launch

This latest news in from George on behalf of Cowes RNLI. Ed

A man aboard a yacht who suffered a suspected minor stroke led to Cowes lifeboat being launched early this morning.

The man and his wife had spent the night in Newtown Creek aboard the 32 foot yacht Aquila.

When early this morning he felt unwell, Solent Coastguards were contacted who in turn alerted Cowes lifeboat.

The lifeboat, launched at 7.40am, eventually brought the couple ashore to a waiting ambulance at Shalfleet quay.

Before returning to Cowes the lifeboat crew transferred the Aquila, which was from Poole, to a buoy in the creek.
