Police are now in a position to name a man who died following a fatal road traffic collision on the Isle of Wight on Sunday, August 30.

Daniel McGrath, 54, of Tennyson Road, Freshwater, died from his injuries after his car was involved in a collision on the A3055, Military Road, Freshwater.

Sadly Mr McGrath died at hospital.

Daniel’s family have now released the following tribute:

“Dan McGrath was a loving caring man married to Gemma. He worked as a carer in the community for many years helping less able people lead as normal life as possible, showing a rare level of compassion for the people he looked after and cared so much about.

“It was whilst he was going about his job visiting people in need of care that he had his crash which resulted in his death.

“He will be sadly missed by his colleagues and the people he cared for, but none more than his wife Gemma and other family members including his son Aaron.”

A file has been prepared and passed to HM Coroner.
