shot from the film timbuktu

Book now to go from Isle of Wight to Timbuktu this week

Ventnor Film Society presents Timbuktu, screening at Ventnor Arts Club on Tuesday and Wednesday this coming week (29th/30th Sept).

Kidane, a cattle herder, lives peacefully with his family in the dunes near Timbuktu. He is happy to be away from the Jihadist regime in the nearby town, where music, laughter, football and laughter are banned and women lead a shadowy existence. But his destiny changes when an accident leads him to face the new laws of the foreign Islamists. This is a subtle look at the Jihadist movement and the ancient cultures it envelops, beautifully filmed in the desert landscape.

Timbuktu poetically tells the story of the silent struggle of the people and the uncertain future of the children, with a creeping sense of tragedy.

Ventnor Film Society meets at Ventnor Arts Club, 13 High St, fortnightly Tues and Weds. 7.30pm.

Entrance £6. Parking in Central Car Park or in Grove Rd, free from 6pm.
