Pedestrian seriously injured by X5 driver who failed roadside breath test

Police are appealing for witnesses following after a car was involved in a collision with a pedestrian in Wellow on the Isle of Wight.

This occurred shortly after 10pm yesterday evening (Thursday, October 8) in Main Road.

The pedestrian, a 29-year-old man was taken by ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital with serious injuries.

Driver arrested and bailed
The driver of a BMW X5 was arrested for failing a roadside breath test and taken to Newport Police Station. He has subsequently been bailed until October 30, 2015.
