Signs of improvement at Appley Park

Thanks to Abigail for sharing this latest news from the Friends of Appley Park with OnTheWight readers. Ed

Following a summer of fund-raising the Friends of Appley has unveiled new signboards throughout Ryde’s historic Appley Park. Designed and made locally, the new information signs were funded by Ryde Town Council, and local businesses in and around the park.

The signs have a smart new map, and useful information for visitors about things to do in and around the park. There are different designs in different parts of the park, focussing on wildlife, history and the seashore, and a selection of some of the many regular events at Appley for visitors to enjoy.

Chairman of the Friends of Appley Matthew Chatfield explained.

“The park and beach at Appley is full of history, wildlife, and things to do; so it wasn’t hard to find plenty to put on the new signs.”

Group Secretary Abigail Fox of Goodleaf Tree Climbing, based at Appley, added,

“We’re delighted that our fundraising work this year has been so successful. We’re already planning next year’s project so if anyone is interested in joining in, get in touch!”
