Costa UK MD says new branch will ‘add to diversity of the High Street’

Earlier in the week OnTheWight reported on the planning approval granted under delegated powers to Costa Coffee by Isle of Wight planning officers.

The No to Costas in Cowes Facebook group say it is now up to businesses to take the campaign further if they wish and many had much to say on the Facebook Page.

In response to the report, Jim Slater, Managing Director for Costa UK & Ireland, told OnTheWight,

“We are very much looking forward to making a positive contribution to Cowes. Following its approval from Isle of Wight Council, the new store will deliver £300,000 in fresh investment, as well as creating around 12 new jobs for the local area.

“The new Costa will give more customer choice and add to the diversity of the High Street, operating alongside independent shops and other national brands. We hope to have the same success and community involvement as our other stores in Newport and Ryde, and look forward to opening our doors to customers.”
