An investigation is underway into the disappearance of a man on the Isle of Wight.

Police are appealing for information about Julian Turrill, aged 54, from Freshwater on the Island.

Mr Turrill was reported missing this afternoon (Saturday, October 31, 2015) when he did not turn up for work as scheduled at midday.

His family are very concerned about this out-of-character event.

Mr Turrill is described as:

White
Light coloured thinning hair
Approximately 6 ft tall
Thin build

Bike found on cliff edge
Initial enquiries have established that a Wight Cycle Hire mountain bike being used by Julian was found earlier today (Saturday, October 31) on the cliff edge of Tennyson Down approximately half way between the Bay and the Tennyson monument.

The bike was handed into the Wight Cycle Hire shop on Station Road in Yarmouth by a member of the public at around 9am this morning (Saturday).

We are also appealing for this member of the public to come forward as they may have further important information that could give an insight into Mr Turrill’s movements, whereabouts and intentions.

Police and coastguard are working together on air and land searches around the Tennyson Down area.
