Martin Widman and Barry Bishop, the men behind the return of Speedway to Smallbrook Stadium at Ryde on the Isle of Wight, met with the British Speedway Promoters Association (BSPA) to give a formal notification of their intention to submit an application to enter a team into the National League in 2016.
Martin Widman said,
“Barry and I are very happy with how our initial meeting with the BSPA went. In addition to formally introducing ourselves, it was great to discuss our ideas and plan. Now we have to wait for the National League AGM on December 2nd to hear if our application to join the league has been successful. We would like to thank the BSPA for the meeting and look forward to working with them in the future.”
Barry Bishop added,
“It was great to meet the BSPA and now we feel that we are another step closer to achieving our goal of National League racing in 2016. On another note, preparation for the speedway school is really gathering pace and thanks to our sponsors, Andy Perring from Back on Track and Gary Ball from Gary Ball Racing, the school hire bikes are being prepared and made ready.
“We will have several junior bikes as well as full size machines and we cannot wait to get started. Details of how you can attend a school or training session will come soon.”
