Vectis Island Pioneers take on Knighton Sandpit

Thanks to Wayne Brodie for this latest report from the Vectis Island Pioneers Motorcycle club. Ed

The Club would like to welcome new members Luke Bowen Clarke (Clubman class) and Andy Steele who competed in the Intermediate class. Also there were a few ‘returning’ members – Jim West (Expert class), Tom Read and Shaun Harris who were both riding in the Intermediate class. We hope they all enjoyed the trial and look forward to seeing them at future events.

Youth classes
The Youth classes were headed up by Jos Wright (Youth Expert) who put in a really good performance to finish on a total of seventy. Great score considering his bike developed another rear brake problem!

Course setter, Owen Moore, in the Youth over 8s, should be pleased with his effort, despite riding unopposed he finished the trial with a total of forty one. The youngest riders of the Club were involved in a very close contest. It was Harrison Crickmore that took the win from Alfie Haydon – section seven proved to make all the difference here – Good effort by both riders.

Expert class
The well contested Expert class was convincingly won by Jim West who finished the trial dropping just a single mark! Mark Gray took second with John Death in third. The scores were very close between Tom Read and Shaun Harris in the Inters, Tom just managing to stay ahead of Shaun to take the win – just four marks between them! Mike Taylor finished in third spot with newcomer Andy Steele in fourth.

Nick Symes at Knighton VIP

Meanwhile Luke Bowen Clarke should be pleased with his performance in his debut trial – earning himself the maximum ten Championship points in the Clubman class – well done Luke.

Novice class
Brian Brockwell continues his recent domination of the Novice class with a really good score to take yet another win – well done Brian.

Scores were tied for the minor placings, Jon Croft snatched second place from Wayne Brodie by scoring a higher number of cleans.

The Twin shock class was also convincingly taken by Nick Symes who managed to finish with the second lowest total of the day with just seven dropped marks. Calvin Wright (despite a very amusing five – on section four) finished in second from Stewart Freeman in third.

Thanks
The Club would like to thank Roger for once again welcoming us back to this excellent venue.

A very big thankyou also goes to Howard Jacobs who braved the wind and the rain on Saturday to provide us with eight excellent sections. Thanks also go to Owen Moore who helped Howard with the finishing touches.

Next meet
The next Club trial will be held on Sunday 13th December at 12 noon.

Please check the Club’s Website nearer the time as the venue is still to be confirmed.
