Explore the solar system (in Ventnor) on afternoon walk with Stokey

If you don’t have plans for Saturday afternoon, why not explore the Solar System in Ventnor.

Ventnor resident and world-renowned teacher in celestial navigation, Stokey Woodall (who’s he?), will be piloting a new walk.

‘Stokey’s Solar Walk’
With the support of the Ventnor Enhancement Fund, a walk is being marked out which will enable Ventnor visitors to experience the scale of the Solar System whilst strolling along the Esplanade from Bonchurch to Ventnor.

If you’ve ever wondered about the universe, the stars and the planets, this will be a fascinating walk. You don’t need any background in astronomy to enjoy it.

The walk begins at 2.15pm sharp by Bonchurch Pottery (the bottom of Shore Road, Bonchurch).

Stokey’s background
Stokey’s a yachtsman with 31 Trans-Atlantic crossings under his belt. His past students have included Ellen Macarthur, Emma Richards and Trans-Atlantic rowing record holders, Leven Brown and Matt Craughwell. He set up the Trans-Atlantic Circuit Programme with legs from Porto to Barbados and Antigua/Azores to England.

These events, along with his courses in Ventnor and around Europe, attract novice and experienced multinational sailors of all ages and backgrounds. He also heads International Ocean Services, Britain’s first ocean sailing school and weather centre.
