Isle of Wight roadworks and road closures week starting 30th November

List of Isle of Wight roadworks and road closures taking place week starting Monday 30th November as provided by Island Roads.

BRADING:
High Street
will be closed from 7pm until approx. midnight on Tuesday 1 December 2015 between Quay Lane and West Street. The route for diverted traffic will be: A3055 High Street and Rowborough Lane, B3330 Carpenters Road and Upper Green Road, B3395 Station Road, Embankment Road, Kings Road, Sherbourne Street, High Street (Bembridge), Forelands Road, Steyne Road, Sandown Road and Marshcombe Shute. The closure is for carriageway repair works at the junction with Cross Street by Island Roads.

BRIGHSTONE:
North Street
will be closed to vehicles from Main Road to Upper Lane between 7am Thursday 19 November and Friday 4 December. In addition Upper Lane will also be closed at the junction with North Street 7am on Thursday 3 December 2015 until Friday 4 December 2015. The closure is for drainage works by Island Roads. The alternative route for vehicles will be B3399 Main Road and Moortown Lane and Upper Lane.

Broad Lane will be closed from B3399 Main Road to Wicken Hill Lane between 7am on Monday 23 November 2015 until 5pm on Friday 4 December 2015. The alternative route for vehicles will be B3399 Main Road, New Road and Mill Lane. The closure is for drainage works between B3399 Main Road and Waytes Court Farm by Island Roads.

Mill Lane/ Wicken Hill Lane / Thorncross Lane will be closed between 8am and 4pm on each day (Mondays to Fridays) between approx. Thursday 5 November and Friday 4 December 2015 (weather and other circumstances permitting) from New Road to Chine Lane. The alternative route for traffic is; Grange Road, A3055 Military Road and Chine Lane. The closure is for carriageway and footway repairs, resurfacing, drainage, kerbing and verge works by Island Roads.

A3055 Military Road (at Brighstone Viaduct). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation at times from 8.30am on Monday 30 November until 3.30pm on Friday 4 December 2015 for bridge repair by Crownpark for Island Roads. There may be some traffic delays.

CALBOURNE:
Lynch Lane
will be closed between 8am and 4pm on each day (Mondays to Fridays) between approx. Thursday 5 November and Monday 30 November 2015 (weather and other circumstances permitting) from Moortown Lane to Freshwater Road. The alternative route for traffic is; Freshwater Road, Brook Road, Brook Hill, Brighstone Road, Hunny Hill and Moortown Lane The closure is for carriageway and footway repairs, resurfacing, drainage, kerbing and verge works by Island Roads.

CHALE:
Chale Street
will be closed from 9.15am until 4pm on Tuesday 1 December 2015, between Upper House and Newman Lane. The alternative route for vehicles will be; Church Place, A3055 Blythe Shute, Blackgang Road, Church Street, Newport Road, Niton Road, Appleford Road and Chale Green. The closure is for telephone pole replacement works by Scott Vaughan for British Telecom.

A305 Military Road ( from near Church Place to the Brighstone side of Chale name plate). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation at times from 9am until 3.30pm on each day from Tuesday 1 December until Friday 4 December 2015 for carriageway repair works by Island Roads. There may be some traffic delays.

CHILLERTON:
Berry Shute
(outside Chillerton Farm)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4.30pm on Wednesday 2 December 2015 for hedge & tree cutting works by Groundsell Contracting. Traffic delays will occur.

New Road / Chillerton Street junction with Highwood Lane. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am on Monday 30 November until 3.30pm on Wednesday 2 December 2015 for the installation of a British Telecom Cabinet by Hire a Lite. Traffic delays will occur.

COLWELL:
Heath Lane
will be closed from 10am on Monday 23 November until 4pm on Thursday 26 November 2015 or between Heath Meadow and A3054 Colwell Road. The route for diverted pedestrians will be; Heath Meadow, Colwell Lane and A3054 Colwell Road. The closure is for tree cutting works and the replacement of overhead electric wires by Groundsell Contracting

COWES:
Bath Road
will be closed on one or two days between 9am and 4pm on Thursday 3 December 2015. The closure will be from Bars Hill to The Parade and the one way restriction will be temporarily suspended to allow access. The route for diverted traffic will be: Bars Hill, Castle Road, Castle Hill and The Parade. The road closure is for carriageway repair works by Island Roads.

EAST COWES:
Esplanade
will be closed from 2.30pm on Friday 25 April 2014 for the foreseeable future between 375 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road and the end of the highway 860 metres to the northeast of Cambridge Road. There is no alternative route for traffic.
This closure is necessary to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road due to a landslip.

FRESHWATER:
Pixley Hill (outside Hill Lodge) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 1pm on Thursday 10 December 2015 for hedge & tree cutting works adjacent to the carriageway and high voltage overhead cables by Groundsell Contracting.
Traffic delays will occur.

A3054 Hill Lane (junction with access road to Golden Hill Fort) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30pm on Thursday 26 November, Friday 27 November or Monday 30 November for manhole frame and cover repair works by CCN Communications for British Telecom. Traffic delays will occur.

GODSHILL:
Beacon Alley,
Godshill will be closed from Whitwell Road Bagwich Lane between 7am on Monday 23 November until 5pm on Monday 21 December 2015. The closure is for drainage works by Island Roads. The alternative route for vehicles will be; Whitwell Road, High Street (Whitwell), Kemming Road, Chatfield Road, Rectory Road, Newport Road and Niton Road.

HAVENSTREET:
Main Road
(outside Sans Souci) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 30 November until Friday 4 December until 4pm on Friday 4 December 2015 for the installation of a new water connection by Clancy Docwra for Southern Water. There may be some traffic delays.

LAKE:
Ranalagh Road / Cliff Road / Cliff Path.
From 1200hrs on Friday 18 July 2014 for the foreseeable future the following roads / path will be closed to vehicular traffic:
Cliff Road / Cliff Path will be closed from point 55 metres to the northwest of the junction with Ranalagh Road to point 185 metres to the south west of the junction with Cliff Gardens (the southern boundary of number 6). Ranalagh Road will also be closed from Cliff Road to a point 10 metres to the west of Cliff Road. During the period of closure there is no alternative route for vehicles. The closure is required due to erosion.
Pedestrian access will be maintained as usual.

NEWBRIDGE:
Main Road
(approx. 250 metres Newbridge Village side of Dodpits Lane). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation when necessary from 9am on Monday 14 September until approx. Friday 18 December 2015 in the interests of safety during the construction of a new solar farm by Anesco Ltd Some traffic delays may occur.

NEWPORT:
Post Office Lane
will be closed to pedestrians from 9am on Monday 30 November until approx. 4pm on Thursday 3 December 2015 from High Street to Lugley Street. The closure is required for the installation of a new electric service connection by Scottish & Southern Energy. The alternative route for pedestrians will be; High Street, St James Street and Lugley Street.

A3054 Fairlee Road (various locations between Coppins Bridge and Seaclose Park). Temporary traffic lights / lane restrictions will be in operation at times from 7.30pm until midnight on one evening between Wednesday 2 December and Friday 4 December for trial holes by Island Roads. There may be some traffic delays.

NITON:
Kemming Road
(outside Baytree Cottage) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8an on Monday 30 November until 4pm on Friday 4 December 2015 for driveway works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.

RYDE:
Spencer Road
(junction with Buckland Gardens) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8.30am on Monday 14 September 2015 until approx. 4.30pm on Friday 29 January 2016 for gas main replacement works by Southern Gas Networks. Some traffic delays will occur.

SANDOWN:
Culver Parade
(opposite Browns Golf Course)
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation at times from 8am until 5pm (Mondays to Fridays) between Monday 2 November and Monday 30 November 2015 for repairs to be undertaken to the seawall by Islandwide Grounds Maintenance. There may be some traffic delays.

Albion Road will be closed from approx. 9am on Monday 23 November until 8am on Monday 4 January 2016 between Albert Road and High Street. The route for diverted traffic will be: Albert Road, Victoria Road and High Street. The one way restriction will be temporarily suspended to allow access to premises. The closure is for utility service installations by LCM Contractors Ltd.

SHANKLIN:
Cliff Path
will be closed from 9.30am on Monday 20 January 2014 for the foreseeable future to pedestrians from Skew Bridge Path to Winchester House Car Park.
The closure is required due to erosion/ land movement. During the period of closure the alternative route for pedestrians will be; Skew Bridge Path, A3055 Sandown Road and Winchester House Car Park.

Esplanade (outside Esplanade Gardens). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am on Monday 14 December until approx. 5pm on Friday 18 December 2015 for the installation of a new gas service by Southern Gas Networks. Some traffic delays will occur.

Collingwood Road will be closed on one or two days between 9am and 4pm on Thursday 3 December 2015. The closure is between Landguard Road and Brook Road. The route for diverted traffic will be: Landguard Road, Carter Avenue and Brook Road. The road closure is for carriageway repair works on the Brook Road side of the entrance to the Co-op Car Park by Island Roads.

ST LAWRENCE:
A3055 Undercliff Drive
will remain closed from St Catherine’s Road to Seven Sisters Road (Western Junction), between Barrington Lodge, near to the western junction with Seven Sisters Road and Mirables which is located about a mile towards Niton. Following significant ground movement in the area in early February 2014, Undercliff Drive has been physically closed between Mirables (in the west) and a point 560 metres to the West of Seven Sisters Road (in the east) for safety reasons. There is now no access for vehicles or pedestrians. A formal road and footpath closure will be in operation for the foreseeable future. Access to businesses and attractions in Undercliff Drive will be maintained. During the period of closure the alternative route for traffic will be;
Pedestrians; A3055 Undercliff Drive, Public Footpath V81, V77, NT28, NT29, NT30 and A3055 Undercliff Drive. Cyclists and Equestrians; A3055 Undercliff Drive, Seven Sisters Road, St Lawrence Shute, Whitwell Road, Ventnor Road, High Street (Whitwell), Kemming Road, Chatfield Road, Rectory Road, High Street (Niton), Institute Hill, Barrack Shute and A3055 Undercliff Drive.

TOTLAND:
Moons Hill / Bedbury Lane
will be closed between 6am and 6pm on each day (Mondays to Fridays) between approx. Tuesday 1 December and Thursday 10 December 2015 (weather and other circumstances permitting) from High Down Lane to Gate Lane. The alternative route for traffic is; Alum Bay Old Road, Alum Bay New Road, Church Hill, The Broadway, The Avenue, Avenue Road, School Green Road, Stroud Road and Victoria Road. The closure is for carriageway and footway repairs, resurfacing, drainage, kerbing and verge works by Island Roads.

VENTNOR:
Longdown Steps Public Footpath V102
will be closed from 10am on Monday 12 May 2014 for the foreseeable future between South Street and St Catherine’s Street. This closure is necessary to avoid danger to persons using the footpath until wall repair works have been undertaken. The diversion route for pedestrians will be; South Street, West Street, High Street, Victoria Street, Wheelers Bay Road and St Catherine’s Street.

Castle Road (between Zig Zag Road and Gills Cliff Road) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from Tuesday 30 December 2014 until approx. 1 April 2016 until retaining wall works have been completed by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.

Trinity Road (outside 17) Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 11am on Wednesday 25 November until Wednesday 2 December 2015 for emergency water main repair works by Clancy Docwra for Southern Water. There may be some traffic delays.

WHIPPINGHAM:
Public Footpath N214
will be closed from Crematorium Road to Public Footpath N114 between 9am on Wednesday 5 August 2015 and 9am on Friday 26 February 2016. The closure is required until urgent repair works have been undertaken to B171 Whippingham Cattle Creep. The alternative route for pedestrians is; Crematoriums Road, A3054 Lushington Hill, Racecourse and Fairlee Road.

A3021 Whippingham Road (junction with Alverstone Road). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 8.30am on Monday 16 November at times until approx. 4.30pm on Friday 27 November 2015 for emergency gas main repair works by Southern Gas Networks. Some traffic delays will occur.

WOOTTON:
A3054 Kite Hill (at Wootton Bridge). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from approx. 7pm on Monday 16 November 2015 until approx. 7pm on Friday 19 February 2016 for bridge strengthening works by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur Motorists travelling between Newport and Ryde are advised to use an alternative route, if possible during the works such as via Long Lane, The Downs Road and Ashey Road.

Mill Square will also be closed during the above dates from the South-eastern junction with A3054 High Street to a point 18 metres to the North West of A3054 High Street. The alternative route for vehicles will be; Mill Square and A3054 High Street. The road closure is necessary whilst bridge works are undertaken. The Public Slipway will be closed at Mill Square near to the South-eastern junction with A3054 High Street during the same times.

Church Road (outside The Rectory & Glebe Court). Temporary traffic control will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on Tuesday 8 December 2015 for hedge & tree cutting works adjacent to the carriageway and high voltage overhead cables by Groundsell Contracting. Traffic delays will occur.

A3054 High Street (junction with Station Road). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 7.30pm until 11pm on each evening from Wednesday 2 December until Friday 4 December 2015 for carriageway repair works in the junction area by Island Roads. Traffic delays will occur.

Church Road, Wootton (outside The Rectory & Glebe Court). Temporary traffic control will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on Tuesday 8 December 2015 for hedge & tree cutting works adjacent to the carriageway and high voltage overhead cables by Groundsell Contracting. Traffic delays will occur.

WROXALL:
Redhill Lane
will be closed from 9am until 4pm on two days between Monday 23 November and Friday 27 November 2015 from Shanklin Road to Appuldurcombe Road. The route for diverted traffic will be: Shanklin Road, St Johns Road and Appuldurcombe Road. The road closure is for carriageway repair works by Island Roads

B3327 St Johns Road (between Appuldurcombe Road and Coombe Park). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9am until 4pm on each day from Tuesday 15 December until Thursday 17 December 2015 for hedge & tree cutting works by Groundsell Contracting. Traffic delays will occur.

YARMOUTH:
A3055 Halletts Shute
(near Norton Grange). Temporary traffic lights will be in operation from 9.30am until 3.30pm on Monday 7 December and Tuesday 8 December 2015 for cable works by A/plant for British Telecom. Traffic delays will occur.
