Pancake Day: Here’s some ideas for something different

It’s Shrove Tuesday and that means it’s Pancake Day (and also that Easter is just around the corner)!

The day before Ash Wednesday, Shrove Tuesday is traditionally when Christians use up all their milk, sugar and eggs before the 40 days of fasting, Lent.

These days, people tend to give up just one item for Lent – chocolate being a popular choice.

How do you like your pancakes?
We’re fans of super-thin pancakes with lemon and sugar.

However, we know many of you like to dress up your pancakes with all manner of toppings, from bacon and cheese, to banana and chocolate spread.

Pancake races
Hopefully if the rain holds off, the Yarmouth pancake race will continue as planned at 10.30am this morning.

There are races for all ages and the money raised will go to the school. The George Hotel will be making special pancakes and the school PTA have a cake stall. More details through Events OnTheWight.
