Latest Isle of Wight JSA numbers published

Figures published by the Office for National Statistics show that 1,707 people in the Isle of Wight area were claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) during January 2016.

The figures show a rise of 9 since December 2015, when there were 1,698 JSA claimants, and a decrease of 365 from January 2015 (2,072 claimants).

Of this month’s total amount, 1,128 applicants were male (up 33 on last month, down 258 on this time last year) and 579 female, (up 24 on last month, down 107 on this time last year).

The number of people claiming JSA for the Isle of Wight region in January 2016 was 2.19%, based on 1,707 claimants and population aged 16-64 of 78,100 (Oct 2014-Sep 2015 figure).

The number of people claiming JSA for the United Kingdom region in January 2016 was 1.61%, based on 656,620 claimants and population aged 16-64 of 40,697,500 (Oct 2014-Sep 2015 figure).
