Rew Valley Youth FC start work on new pitch. Can you help out?

Thanks to Jess for this update. Ed

We’ve been overwhelmed by the response we’ve had since launching our appeal and just wanted to say ‘thank you’ and to update everyone.

So far we have received donations of over £500 from the public to our Go fund me page plus numerous offers of raffle prizes from local businesses and attractions for our upcoming fundraisers. We are incredibly grateful for all of these.

Work starts imminently
We have managed to secure a grant from the Premier league and F.A of £3,742, this with the £440 the children raised bag packing at Morrison’s and along with some other pledges means we now have enough to start the work at our new ground in the next couple of weeks!

We’ve also had some offers of help from people such as Island Roads who are giving us a working party to help with some of the manual labour. Pro-Cam 4K who took some aerial photos of the pitch to use for our appeal and Roy Clayton of Imp House Building Ltd who is kindly giving us the use of a man and a digger for the day which is much appreciated.

Support our fundraising events
Ryde Fire Station have also agreed to let us have a Car Wash in aid of the club at the fire station on Saturday 19th March between 10am-3pm which we are asking people to come along and support if they can.

We have fundraisers planned for Saturday 12th March at the table top sale at Ventnor Central (the old Youth Club opposite Spar) in Ventnor between 10am 2pm.

A quiz night in aid of the club at the Central Grill and Carvery on Wed 16th as well as some more events in the pipeline.

Your help needed
We’re appealing for help from volunteers, especially anyone with access to hedge cutters, strimmers, chainsaws and wheelbarrows etc, on 12th March to come to help us demolish the old shed and clear overgrowth and bushes at the new site to enable the contractors to concentrate on the excavation and levelling work.

We have been overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the people of the Island and we are truly grateful to everyone who has helped us get this far. We are hoping our upcoming fundraising events will ensure we can buy a grass cutting machine for the new pitch and a shipping storage container for our equipment.

Thank you once again to everyone who has helped us in any way from all at Rew Valley Youth FC.

Donations can be made through the Go Fund Me Page.
