On the occasion of the 90th birthday of HM Queen Elizabeth II, Yarmouth Town Council is hosting a Tea Party from 3pm – 5pm, in the Community Hall in St. James Street to celebrate the older residents of Yarmouth and Thorley area.

85 people have been invited to the tea party provided by volunteers and supporters of the Community Hall. Local businesses have generously donated food, raffle prizes, flowers and gifts for those attending. The FYT bus will be running a special service taking people to and from the event. Residents of The Abbeyfield volunteered to wrap all the gifts and make the paper chains.

Children to sing
During the afternoon, children from Yarmouth Primary School will be arriving to sing the National Anthem. A large ‘E’ shaped cake made by The George Hotel staff, will be cut by those aged over 90, – and over 100, whilst all sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Queen Elizabeth. The children will then take round slices of birthday cake.

There will be quizzes on the life of the Queen for each table and music provided by a local musician.

We understand that the bishop will be joining us during the afternoon.

For those aged over 90, a special celebration cake will be delivered to their home.
