dumped mobile home by cooks farm - peter howard

Mystery of the mobile home dumped, now blocking a footpath (Update 2)

Those of us who choose to spend our leisure time walking on the Isle of Wight, can often come across strange items of litter.

But for OnTheWight reader, Peter Howard, his latest discovery was something else!

Blocking footpath
He spotted this ginormous piece of flytipping at the weekend. Plonked right across the footpath from Forest Road to the Blacksmiths Arms, this mobile home is now blocking the path by Cooks Farm.

Currently it appears to be a mystery as to why it’s been left there, but we’re in the process of contacting people to try and shed some light on it.

We’ll update you once we hear more.

Update 18:19: There’s been some discussion between Islanders on the Isle of Wight Community Information Facebook group that a farmer has moved the caravan since the photos was taken mid-day on Saturday. OnTheWight is attempting to verify.

Update 11.08am (10/5)
A spokesperson from Isle of Wight council said,

“A spokesperson for the council’s Rights of Way team confirmed that the mobile home had been moved into a nearby field by its owner and is now no longer blocking the bridleway.

“It is understood it had been placed on the bridleway as a result of a misunderstanding, and was not an issue of flytipping.”
