Appeal for witnesses after cyclist left with serious head injury following collision on the Isle of Wight

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on the Isle of Wight.

A cyclist was in collision with a silver Ford Galaxy on Avenue Road, in Sandown, shortly after 5pm yesterday (Thursday, June 23).

The 28-year-old male cyclist, who was riding a black and white bike, suffered a serious head injury and is currently in a critical condition in Southampton General Hospital.

The driver of the car was uninjured and is helping police with their enquiries.

Investigating officer PC Dom Green said:

“I would like to encourage any witnesses who have not already spoken to us to come forward as a matter of urgency as they may have vital information which can assist us with this investigation.”
