Ryde Arts Festival continues this week with an evening of live Jazz on Friday night. Ed

Ryde Arts Festival is hosting a jazz concert on Friday 1 July featuring some of the best jazz musicians on the Island, all of whom played leading roles at the recent Newport Jazz Weekend.

The venue is St Michael’s Church in Haylands, which has a beautiful interior and great acoustics, making it a perfect setting for jazz.

The Great American Songbook
The theme of the evening will be the Great American Songbook, with well-known standards by Gershwin, Cole Porter and other leading composers performed in an accessible and intimate manner.

The musicians are Loren Thorn (vocals), Nick Page (guitar and vocals), Jim Thorn (piano), Jon Thorne (double bass) and Ken Black (drums).

Doors open at 7pm. Parking in the local area is quite limited so people are advised not to leave it until the last minute to arrive.

The music will start at 7.30 and there will be two sets of one hour with a 30 minute break where refreshments, and the opportunity to look around the lovely Church will be available.

Entrance is for adults and £5, Under 18 free.
