Grove House Surgery

Smallest Isle of Wight GP practice well-rated by CQC

Mike shares this very good news from Ventnor. Ed

Grove House Surgery Ventnor, the smallest of the Isle of Wight GP Practices with just under 4,000 patients, has received a ‘Good’ rating in all 30 categories at the recent Care Quality Commission inspection.

The Care Quality Commission checks that the Practice is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led and uses this assessment framework for six patient groups.

In addition to information obtained during the visit from Practice records, plans and policies the CQC looks at national patient surveys and discusses satisfaction levels with patients.

In the final report Grove House received praise in several areas. The CQC inspectors stated that there was an open and transparent approach to safety, patients were treated with compassion dignity and respect, the Practice had good facilities and was well equipped, the Practice had a robust strategy and business plans and a clear leadership structure and 99% of patients described the overall experience of the Practice as good or better compared to the national average of 85%.

Mike Jukes, the Practice Manager, praised the staff who consistently outperform the national and Isle of Wight practice averages in patient surveys.

“They always try to give the patients friendly, professional and knowledgeable service. Add to that the caring and effective treatment by the doctors and nurses, and the good availability of appointments, and it is easy to see why patients like small local Practices such as Grove House.”
