On 12th July, four Wightlink-LCM Systems Cycle Race Team riders Adam Hollyman, Ian Hayden, Stu Waite and Matthew Allsopp went to Goodwood for a team time trial. 30 teams of four riders raced against the clock for ten laps of the circuit covering 25 miles in total.

Starting along with the rain, the team rode to plan, without practising they still rode smoothly taking turns on the front allowing the following riders to recover from their hard efforts.

The team averaged 28mph finishing sixth in a time of 52.02. Each rider gained points for their result. The team was supported for the first time by Wight Mountain bike shop.

Round five
On Wednesday 13th July, seven members of the team made the trip to compete in round five at Mountbatten centre in Portsmouth.

Ian Hayden, James Ebdon, Adam Holleyman, Sam Baker and Connor Ambrosini raced for 45 minutes in the third category event. Using the strength of the team to weaken the opposition with repeated attacks, the Wightlink team were able to get a rider into a break from the main field.

Holleyman joined three other riders and they stayed away from the chasing main bunch.

Holleyman took the win
During the last lap one of the riders started their sprint early so Holleyman tucked into his slim stream and then sprinted past him on the last turn to take the win.

In the 50 minute Elite/1/2 race, Matt Allsopp was racing without a teammate, as Stu Waite unfortunately has to pull out with illness at the last minute.

Allsopp raced well and did a lot of the work before he found himself in a break of four riders.

The break eventually fragmented and Allsopp dropped back to the bunch to recover and contest the sprint. With a powerful finish he placed an impressive sixth among a strong field.
