rubbish on colwell beach - chas from freshwater

Party on the beach, but make sure you ‘leave no trace’

One of the wonderful things about living by the sea is the chance to spend the warm summer evenings on the beach with friends.

Enjoying a BBQ or just sitting around a beach fire with friends is a great way to end the day.

Most beach users understand the importance of taking their rubbish home with them, but sadly some people seem to not consider the consequences of their actions.

Leave no trace
The litter left behind is harmful to wildlife and humans alike.

A photo shared on social media last week of a young girl whose foot had been deeply slashed by the edge of a discarded foil BBQ was horrific.

Not the job of dog walkers
Chas from Freshwater has been in touch with this photo taken today at Colwell Bay.

They said,

“Wonderful view at Colwell Beach this morning with the Holiday season in full swing.

“Of course this is beyond the small section of beach that the Parish pay to be cleaned.

“As a dog owner who picks up its outfall, why don”t people just take their rubbish away?”
