Studio Cafe, Newport Opens (Podcast)

Last updated:

Studio CafeA new team has taken over the Cafe on the ground floor of The Studio in Newport and they’re bringing with them wholesome, home-made food all at a fair price.

Located next to the bus station, near the library, it’s a long, bright white room with the counter at the far end, providing lots of places to sit and plenty of wall space.

Local Artists
They’re planning making the most all of that wall space by giving it over to local artists, allowing them to hanging art works, free of charge, for three weeks, before it changes to the next artist.

They strive — and succeed — to provide a warm welcome to all visitors, matching that with soothing music that – unlike many other places, doesn’t rattle your brain out of your ears.

Studio Cafe, Newport Opens (Podcast)Fresh food & Island produce
Fresh Island produce is bought every day from the local green grocers (one which we’re told that people drive from Shanklin to shop in), so you know that you’re getting the best ingredients prepared and put on your plate.

To keep people coming back day after day, they’re going to be preparing a fresh menu every day – pretty ambitious.

We spoke to Janet Harrison about the team’s plans for the Studio Cafe and she tells us that they will also be making a new home-made soup daily.

If you’re just in the mood for some refreshment, the fruit from the local green grocer can be whipped in to a smoothie for you in no time.

Studio CafeKeen prices
The prices are keen. When you consider that they’re selling soup with bread, both home-made, for just £2.50, you know that you’ve just got to try it out.

The ham sandwich I had while I was there was flavoursome. The home-made bread was great. Eating it, I felt more healthy.

They don’t hide away from the fact that those behind it are Christians, but they’re equally keen to point out that people won’t be preached to when they come and enjoy a soup and home-made bread during their lunch break.

What they do promise is a warm welcome, good wholesome food, and a fair price.

Grand opening – 16 July
Janet and the team behind the Studio Cafe have been squirrelling away, getting used to how they can best serve their customers and will be doing a big launch in the evening of the 16 July. Details of this will follow shortly.

Have a listen to Janet speaking about the cafe and you’ll hear her natural enthusiasm spilling over …

This is VB first sponsored feature and we’d like to thank The Studio Cafe for their support.
