Here on the Isle of Wight we have a huge love of The Arts, be it live music, comedy, literature, etc.

Isle of Arts Festival 2011: The Hamsters First Headliners AnnouncedThe success of the many festivals that take place over the summer and into autumn pay testament to that.

So it’s great to hear that another festival is being planned on the Island for the beginning of the season.

This isn’t a tent in a muddy field type festival, but something more refined.

Four Ventnorians, who have been busy planning and beavering away for the last year, confirmed today that the first Isle of Arts Festival will take place between 15-17 April 2011.

Celebration of the arts
The three-day festival will be a celebration of the arts, featuring music, film, drama, art, photography, literature, comedy and loads more.

The plan is for the festival to take place throughout Ventnor, in lots of unusual venues, bringing the entire town to life for three days during the Easter school holidays.

Isle of Arts Festival 2011: The Hamsters First Headliners AnnouncedAs well as headline acts each day, showcasing music, comedy and literature, there’ll also be workshops and arts projects to involve visitors of all ages from five to 105.

The Hamsters and Digby Fairweather headline
To kick off the first night’s live music entertainment, blues maestros the Hamsters, aka guitarist Slim, drummer Otis and bass player Zsa Zsa, will be performing two solid hours of blues and rock on Friday 15th April.

Closing the festival on Sunday 17th April will be Digby Fairweather. Once again he’ll be returning to Ventnor with his band the Half Dozen to ensure a high-energy, toe-tapping finale to the festival.
