Number of Isle of Wight JSA claimants drops

Figures published by the Office for National Statistics show that 1,435 people in the Isle of Wight area were claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) during April 2016.

The figures show a drop of 200 since February 2016, when there were 1,635 JSA claimants, and a decrease of 82 from April 2015 (1,517).

Of those claiming in April 2016, 985 were male and 450 female.

That means 1.8% of the resident population of area aged 16-64 is claiming JSA – 0.7% more than the rest of the South East (1.1%), and the same as the whole of the UK (1.8%).
