black wheelie bins lids

Have you got your new wheelie bins or sacks yet?

The Isle of Wight council has today advised the target for all bins and sacks to be delivered to households on the Isle of Wight by Sunday 29th May is not a contract date, but a self-imposed target by Amey.

Many residents are still without bins almost four weeks since the start of the new waste collection programme.

Financial penalties
A spokesperson for the council confirmed that the level of deductions (ie. financial penalties) that can be applied for any failures are set by the contract.

The financial penalties are still being determined, they said, and won’t be known “until all receptacles are delivered and the associated data is analysed”.

They added,

“There would be nothing to be gained by estimating a figure at this time, as any deductions will be based upon actual performance calculated through contract monitoring procedures.”

Have you had yours?
With the deadline fast approaching (do they work weekends?) it will be interesting to hear from readers on Monday whether they are still awaiting bins/sacks.

We know of several who are.
