The bad weather put paid to Ventnor’s matches in the British Gas Southern League Premier Division and Hampshire League Division 1 on Saturday.

No play was possible at Newclose against Hampshire Academy and the second team were spared a journey to Hook & Newnham by an early morning cancellation.

Third team
The third team came unstuck against Old Netley and Highfield on Saturday, losing by five wickets in Hampshire League Regional Division 3 South at Steephill.

15 year old Ben Attrill struck a fine 104, his maiden century, and with fellow teenager Dan Cox scoring 65 and Jason Boulter 23, the home team totalled 210-3 from their 42 overs.
The visitors reached their target with two overs remaining, Craig Harrington making an impressive 125.

42 run defeat
On Sunday at Steephill, Ventnor bowed out of the British Gas T20 competition after a 42 run defeat against Sarisbury Athletic.

Former Hampshire man, Basil Akram, hit 73 in the visitors total of 198-5 with the Islanders replying with 156-7, Corbin following up a spell of 3-35 with a quick fire 42 in an unsuccessful run chase.

Fixtures
On Saturday, the first team face the daunting trip to champions South Wilts while the second team entertain Sarisbury Athletic II.

On Sunday the Club’s Under 19 team travel to Bournemouth in the Nat West T20.
