A competitive time trial cyclist from the Isle of Wight will be among the hundreds of people taking part in the first Silverstone Time Trial Challenge on 2nd October 2016.

Jon Pridham will join people of all ages and abilities on the world famous race track for the day-long cycling festival.

Regularly competitor
Jon, who is managing director of Cowes Yacht Haven Ltd, is a keen cyclist in his spare time and regularly competes in cycling time trials. Jon says:

“I have won the Castle Combe Veteran Class for the last two years and I am the Age Category Time Trial Champion for the second year running with TLI Cycling.”

Fundraising for great causes
The Silverstone Time Trial Challenge takes place on the iconic Silverstone racetrack and offers participants the chance to cycle on one of the world’s best known tracks whilst raising funds for charity Operation Smile, an international medial charity which provides free surgeries to children in developing countries who are born with cleft lip, cleft palate or other facial deformities.

Jon says he is looking forward to racing at Silverstone:

“Having attended Formula One, MotoGP and British Superbike events at Silverstone over the last 35 years, I am looking forward to competing on the world-famous track.”

Lots for families to do
The event features a number of cycling options, including time trial events for individuals and teams, a family lap and a leisure ride.

There will also be an event village open to all, ensuring the whole family is entertained thanks to the chill out zone, children’s entertainment, classic cars, silent cinema and a static bike challenge. Plus there is a great spectator viewing area for those watching the cycling events on the track.
