Novum Law, the Newport – based specialist personal injury law firm will be one of the main sponsors alongside Specsavers at the ‘Isle Drive Safe Remember Evey’ Charity Gala evening on Saturday 8 October at Cowes Yacht Haven.

The event will raise much-needed funds for the Island road safety charity ‘Isle Drive Safe’ founded by Neal Staley after his ten year old daughter Evey was tragically killed by a driver who had been drinking and taking drugs before getting behind the wheel back in 2013.

The evening will include: a three course meal; music from local live band ‘Switch’; DJ Omar Lakhssassia and a selection of table entertainment.

Don’t miss the Grand Raffle
There will also be a grand raffle with fantastic prizes including: two Bestival tickets, £100 Bath Travel voucher, two night five* luxury stay with hot tub at Newclose Farm, a family of four ticket to Tapnell Farm and many vouchers donated by Novum Law, Specsavers and a number of supportive local businesses.

High number of children killed or seriously injured
Darren O’Sullivan, Director of Novum Law, who has supported the charity for a number of years, said,

“Sadly on the Isle of Wight, the numbers of children aged between 0 and 15 who were killed or seriously injured in road traffic accidents in 2011-2013 was 46 per 100,000 population[i] – a grim statistic which is significantly higher than the 19.1 average recorded on the mainland.

“Clearly more needs to be done to improve road safety awareness, particularly for our children and young people and local charities such as Isle Drive Safe Remember Evey do a sterling job working to raise awareness of road safety issues for young and old alike with the aim of reducing the numbers of Islanders killed or seriously injured on our roads.”

He went on to add,

“Next month’s Charity Gala evening is the most important fundraising event in the charity’s calendar generating vital funds to sustain its fantastic work and it promises to be an enjoyable, entertaining and very worthwhile event.”

The evening starts at 7pm to 1am and tickets are £40 per person or £360 for a table of ten and can be bought from Specsavers, 40 High Street, Newport or by visiting EventBrite. The dress code is ‘evening wear’.
