On Thursday 20, October, the Isle of Wight Youth Trust will be hosting a Bite the Wight Dinner at Ryde School with a special guest appearance by Ryde school alumnus and renowned writer Philip Norman.

Renowned interviewer and writer
Philip Norman, who was born in London but, grew up on the Isle of Wight, has captured his childhood in Ryde with heart breaking detail in both, ‘The Skaters’ Waltz’, which saw him recognised in the first Top 20 Best of Young British Novelists, and in ‘Babycham Night’, his memoir of growing up on Ryde Pier.

These novels are a part Mr Norman’s extensive body of work which also includes his journalistic work, musical biographies, film scripts, television and radio plays and the books for two stage musicals.

After earning a reputation as a renowned interviewer for The Sunday Times’ iconic colour magazine with subjects ranging from Elizabeth Taylor and Little Richard to PG Wodehouse and Libyan dictator, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, Philip Norman published Shout!, a ground-breaking biography of the Beatles, which has remained continuously in print ever since and is still regarded as the definitive history of the band.

Dinner and talk
In addition to being treated to an after-dinner talk with questions and answers by Philip Norman, guests will enjoy a delicious three course meal with a glass of wine.

The venue for the evening is the award winning Ryde School dining room and a £45 donation will be requested of all guests.
