Police hunt teens after lunchtime assault

Officers investigating an assault in Sandown yesterday lunchtime (Thursday, September 29) are trying to trace a group of teenagers seen in the area.

A man aged in his forties was treated for cuts to his head after he reported that he had an altercation with three boys, thought to be aged in their late teens, on Carter Street shortly before 1pm.

The man described the teenage boys as wearing dark clothing, one of them was carrying a JD Sports bag.

A 44 year-old man from Surrey has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place in connection with this investigation and has been bailed until October 27 pending further enquiries.
