The Isle of Wight council say that although they have no objection to the request to remove the tree, options are being considered and investigated further with Island Roads that may prevent the immediate removal of the tree.
Cllr Mosdell explains there will be £3.8m of savings (cuts) made in Adult Social Care, despite asking residents to pay an extra 3% of council tax to help care for vulnerable adults and the elderly.
The council say that infrastructure funding will help attract private sector investment – and estimates it could "eventually create around 550 long-term jobs and 20 during the construction phases".
The CEO of the Isle of Wight council said the awards evening was an opportunity to "remind ourselves about how well our team has done, to inspire one another to do greater things and take the next steps on our road together".
Newport and Ryde retailers are invited to attend two launch events to find out more about using social media alongside traditional methods of marketing themselves to potential shoppers.
There were no promises of extra money, but leader of the Isle of Wight council said it was a "very positive meeting covering a wide range of issues" and that the Island was firmly on the agenda in Whitehall.
The council say the phone survey is designed to find out about Island shopping patterns and will help the council understand retail needs and plan for potential future retail development.
