St George's School has received a donation of gift cards from Sainsbury’s Isle of Wight store in Newport, which helped to fund healthy eating ingredients.
There are 13 providers on the Isle of Wight offering their services to the 14,000+ 11-19 year olds. Just over half way through the grant period (2014-17) the Children's Committee is updated on progress of the providers.
Roughly half of schools that were approached to help to save their local service have agreed to take over the funding, but there are still others that will be without school crossing patrols come September unless alternative funding is found.
Against the new standards, 48 per cent of Isle of Wight pupils reached the national standard in reading, writing and mathematics compared to 53 per cent nationally.
