£10,000 funding boost for Save the Rivoli Cinema appeal

The appeal to save the Rivoli Cinema had a fantastic boost last week after a local businessman responded to a leaflet through his front door and told organisers of the appeal that he wanted to invest £10,000 into the fund.

Founder of the Isle of Wight Film Festival, Bruce Webb launched the campaign in October to save the old cinema, which if not sold by January, could be demolished and developed on. The building had been up for sale for a very long time with no interest.

Bruce, who is selling his own property in order to help fund the purchase, said,

“The money raised will firstly go into saving the building from demolition. Then the remaining money with go towards buying new seats, fitting out the foyer and bar, putting in digital projection for first run movies and decorating and fitting out the auditorium back to its art deco resplendence.”

There are just under three days left to make your claim on the IndieGoGo crowding funding appeal.

Still time to invest
Investments from £5 upwards are accepted through the IndieGoGo site, or if like the local businessman above, you’d like to invest a higher amount in return for shares, you can get in touch with Bruce directly through the Facebook page.
