Jack shares this latest report from Wightlink-LCM Systems Cycle Race Team. Ed
On Wednesday 22nd June, three Wightlink-LCM Systems Cycle Race Team riders went to the second round of the Mountbatten circuit races in Portsmouth.
James Ebdon, Ian Hayden and new team member Austin Head, competed in the third cat race. The race was 35 minutes plus three laps of the 500 metre track.
Ebdon and Head were both racing aggressively, attacking off the front to try and wear out the bunch for a late attack by Hayden.
After the third attack, Ebdon found himself in a group of nine riders. For the last 20 minutes of the race, Hayden and Head disrupted the chase while Ebdon was in the breakaway.
Taking the win
On the last lap Ebdon used his fast finishing sprint to take the win, while Hayden provided a lead out for Head, who take 11th place.
Ebdon now leads the overall league with a first and second place after the first two rounds, with Hayden in 14th place.
