Here at VB we love competitions and especially ones that encourage activities working towards a healthier planet.
The Wight Wheels Cycle Challenge is a project initiated by CTC Challenge for Change, in partnership with the Isle of Wight Council and NHS Isle of Wight.
It’s a free competition designed encourage the good folk of the Island to get on their bikes and discover the joys and benefits of cycling!
Just 10 minutes!
The idea is that businesses sign up and compete against each other, to see who can get the most staff to cycle for a minimum of just 10 minutes – that’s not even 10 minutes each day, just ten minutes between Monday 5 to Sunday 25 July 2010.
All you have to do is register on the official Wight Wheels Challenge Website where you can find full information and support.
William Ainslie, Challenge Co-ordinator said: “Cycling is a cheap, fast and environmentally friendly way to get around the Island – and it’s healthy and fun too.
Free to enter
“The Cycle Challenge is free to enter and is for local employers of all sizes, and cyclists of all abilities. We want existing cyclists to encourage their non cycling colleagues to get on a bike – and there are free cinema tickets up for grabs for both if they manage to do so!
“The Challenge is all about having some fun and remembering how enjoyable cycling can be. We hope it provides people who don’t currently cycle with the encouragement they need to hop back on a bike.”
