VB readers may remember back at the beginning of the month, the Isle of Wight Steam Railway were appealing for Islanders to vote for them in a National Lottery Awards scheme.
News reaches us this morning that the Isle of Wight Steam Railway (IWSR) managed to gain enough votes to get them through to the final of the National Lottery Awards.
That’s excellent news so well done to everybody who voted. However, to help the IWSR take the winning slot, they need your help once more.
Your support needed again
Voting starts again next month (details below) and if IWSR manage to get enough votes they could be walking away with £2,000, as well as the taking the top award in the Best Heritage Project category.
“Reaching the Final of the National Lottery Awards is a tremendous boost to our Railway”, said IW Steam Railway Chairman, Steve Oates. “It is a very fitting reward for the dedication and hard work of all the staff and volunteers who do so much to our Website keep our piece of Island railway history alive. We very much hope that Islanders, supporters of Heritage Railways and the public as a whole will vote for us – And please remember, even if you voted for us in the semi-finals we need you to vote for us again please!”
When to vote
Online voting for the ‘Isle of Wight Railway Restoration’ takes place between Monday 26th July until Friday 13th August (don’t worry, we’ll remind you nearer the time to place your vote).
A special TV programme announcing the winner live on air takes place on Saturday 4th September.
