A national campaign to protest against library closures is gathering pace as well as endorsements from authors across the country.
A ‘Read-In’ is being planned for 5th February and campaigners on the Isle of Wight will also be taking part.
Read-Ins are being organised with library users, authors, trade unionists, librarians and councillors committed to libraries, being invited to get involved. The idea is for campaigners to gather in libraries and take turns to read excerpts from their favourite books.

Campaigners on the Isle of Wight have put a call out through the Save Our Libraries on the Isle of Wight Website for suggestions of what authors could be celebrated during the Read-In.
The Read-In takes place two days before the end of the Isle of Wight council’s public consultation (7th Feb) and during the 11th National Storytelling Week (more on that later).
If you want to take part get in touch with organisers through the Save Our Libraries on the Isle of Wight Website.
