A planning application to erect five wind turbines just south of Thorley has been submitted to the Isle of Wight Council.
After a year of year of site research, environmental studies and public consultation, renewable energy company Infinergy confirm that should the application be approved turbines will be supplied by Vestas.
Project Director, Herb Lindlahr said, “As is our normal practice we have put in a lot of time and effort to get this application right for the Island.
“Since we started this process, a number of revisions have been made to the original proposal. This has resulted in what we believe is the best possible proposal to put forward to Isle of Wight Council.”
Mr Lindlahr continued: “We are delighted to see that Vectis Wind Farm does have Island backers. Over the last year that our team have been talking with Islanders the amount of support has been very encouraging and generous. We look forward to seeing many other supporters stepping forward to make their voices heard.”
If the application is approved, it could be some years before the wind farm is constructed.
