The No 31 Wightbus which is due to be withdrawn from service from 2nd September has been given a new lease of life.
With a grant from Isle of Wight council, Ventnor Town Councillor Jim Morgan has provided a new Bonchurch and Ventnor Community Bus Service (No 31).
The service will be funded for one year and commences from 5th September and run on Mondays to Fridays (not Bank Holidays or Public Holidays).
B&B Taxis & Island Mini Bus Service will operate the service as sub-contractor.
There will be three registered routes.
A Ventnor (Boots) – St. Boniface Rd. – Leeson Rd. – Bonchurch Shute – Bonchurch Village Rd. – Madeira Rd. – High St. – Ventnor (Boots)
B Ventnor (Boots) – Dudley Rd. – Pier St. – Ventnor Esplanade – La Falaise (car park: turn-round) – Esplanade – Ventnor (Boots).
C Ventnor (Boots) – Dudley Rd. – Pier St. – Church St. – Alpine Rd. – Park Ave. – Steephill Rd.- Castle Rd.- Zig Zag Rd.- Church St. – Ventnor (Boots)
English National concessionary travel scheme passes will be accepted without charge.
Otherwise Flat Fare of £1 per loop or part of loop (A, B or C), children under 16 half price
The addition of Shore Road and The Esplanade, (previously inaccessible by coaches or public transport), will benefit businesses, holiday makers and the residents of Ventnor.
