For many weeks now, large numbers of people have been occupying Wall Street in New York.
People from all walks of life have been protesting “against financial greed and corruption” and the Occupy movement has gained momentum in the last two weeks, with 1,500 similar demonstrations taking place in cities around the world.
You may have seen in the news that demonstrations have been protesting outside the London Stock Exchange since the weekend and a similar protest is planned for the Isle of Wight.
“Occupy Isle of Wight”
Someone has set up an ‘Occupy Isle of Wight‘ Facebook group and is inviting Islanders to take part in the demonstration on 5th November.
They say,
If you have enough of all the corruption, greed and horror in the world, join the 99%. Let us march upon County Hall and make our voices known. We will take to the streets and spread our message. The majority have the right to protest to the actions of the minority. It is a basic human right. We are being deprived of our human rights by the privatisation of life itself. The world is governed by corruption. It is murky. It is criminal.
Please, please spread the word. To everyone you know who would agree with this. We need to make our voices known. We need to stand up for ourselves. A big turn out is essential. We need to prove to them that the people will not stand for it anymore.
See you at Midday on the 5th of November.
