The Lollipop People exhibition opens this weekend. Do pop along if you can to show your support for Isle of Wight arts scene. Ed
Set in a former Wesleyan Chapel basement, this nationwide open submissions exhibition brings together a multi disciplined and diverse group of contemporary fine artworks, all exploring the theme ‘Childhood’.
The exhibition has been organised by Joanne Hummel-Newell, (former exhibitions organiser at Quay Arts and Ryde based contemporary fine artist).
Also on the selection panel is Lisa Traxler, (celebrated Island sculptor and painter), Katayoun Dowlatshahi, (Winner of the West gallery prize 2011 and MA Stars selector for Axis Web), and Amy Lloyd, (Participation manager at Aspex gallery Portsmouth).
Inspiring others
Joanne Hummel-Newell says, “The accessibility to art encourages curiosity, different ways of seeing and learning, and above all is inspiring. It is a real treat to not only have the support of our local council, but to also open the doors to a historical landmark such as the Depozitory, and welcome visitors of all ages to come view this very current and exciting exhibition.”
