In just over a week’s time, Her Majesty The Queen will be gracing the Island with her presence as part of her Diamond Jubilee Tour.
As mentioned back in February, HM The Queen will be taking part in a number of engagements in Cowes, as well as officially opening the new lifeboat station.
One person from the south of the Island looking forward to the HM The Queen’s visit is Master Glassmaker at Isle of Wight Studio Glass, Timothy Harris.
Commemorative glass bowl
Timothy has been given the honour of designing, creating and presenting HM The Queen with a commemorative glass bowl on behalf of the people of the Isle of Wight.
The unique design of this glass bowl is inspired by the sea and coastlines surrounding the beautiful Island.
Timothy said, “I am honoured and delighted to design and create this commemorative piece. This being one of the biggest highlights of my career, following my QEST scholarship, I will present this piece to her Majesty the Queen on behalf of the people of the Island.”
In progress
Isle of Wight Studio Glass are not able to reveal the finished item before the presentation, but have kindly sent some images of it in progress.
