Ukulele gig on the cliff

Watch some Ukulele loveliness from Isle of Arts Festival (video)

The workshops – programmed by the Isle of Arts Festival were run by the Utterly Butterly Ukulele Project and saw people of all ages learning how to make a Ukulele out of a rejected margarine tub, a piece of wood and some fishing line.

The results were fantastic and after learning a few chords and some rhythms, the participants made their way to Salisbury Gardens on the Eastern cliffs of Ventnor to gather for a quick mass Ukulele gig.

As you can see from the video below, those taking part really enjoyed themselves (see all those smiling faces) and the workshops went down a storm.

Well done to all who took part, it was great listening to you on Sunday.

This looks like it might be an informative and interesting meeting. Have you also invited landowners and other community interest along?

How will the potential expansion of the Pennyfeathers / Westridge effect this as it will also no doubt add further pressure on the Culverts, brooks in the existing area?

There are two reasons for this flooding around the Strand area of Ryde, one is Southern water for taking the road water run off into their sewers cos they needed this water so the sewage plant at Apply would work effectively. The second reason is the most obvious,Ryde harbor,it was plain to see what was going to happen, the sand would build up and block the outfall from Monktonmead… Read more »

The meeting appears to be covering a wider range than just the ongoing problem of Strand flooding directly, it is looking at both the causes and effects of the waterways, floodplains in the local landscape and possible effects of future developments in the area and how this might / will affect the the infrastructure of Ryde as a whole. Certainly Monkton Mead is now an overgrown mess… Read more »

Again the subject of flooding around the Strand and surrounding areas are the topic of conversation , and many have there views and opinions which are welcome but often expensive and not practical , so I would like to offer my suggestion which may not solve the total problem but im sure would help it.I am talking about the parcel of land which is for sale between… Read more »
