Isle of Wight artist, Howard Hardiman, is hoping that Islanders may like to join him in a new project.
He’s planning to create hardback picture book and online game that tells the story of “a little little Badger who wanders around on the Isle of Wight”.
Howard is looking to attract crowd-funding and has already managed to raise an excellent £1,312 towards the project.
Howard says,
“I remember when I was young, I loved books that allowed you to make choices and choose the direction you went in and I hoped that when I grew up, life would be full of choice and adventure.
“So, you’ll be able to choose whether Badger brushes his teeth then has his breakfast or has breakfast and then brushes his teeth. You can go with him on a day-trip somewhere on the Isle of Wight or have him stay at home and do the washing up.
“I’ll be working with Cara Ellison on an online version of the story which will be completely free to play and I’ll be getting editorial help from artist Melanie Swan to make sure Badger doesn’t wander somewhere he shouldn’t. We’ve been very fortunate to have the support of Arts Council England to make the online game.”
What you’ll get in return
In return for your financial support you’ll get something tangible depending on the level of your contribution.
Howard goes on to say,
“What I’d like your help with is to put together a hardback book version of the story and I’d like you to help choose what he does with his day. You’ll be able to order advance copies of the book in time for Christmas and you could receive some of the original artwork. You could even request something appears in the book or somewhere you’d like Badger to visit. It’d have to be on the Isle of Wight and couldn’t be anything too scary. He’s a little bit timid.
“Everyone who contributes will have a thank-you mention in the book and, of course, everyone will be able to play the game on their computers.”
