Police confirm they are investigating reports of an assault that took place in the early hours of Sunday morning in Newport.
The incident took place by the taxi rank on South Street between 2.15am and 2.45am.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to call them on 101 and quote reference number 4416 013 5589.
The assault was filmed
Video footage of the assault was posted to Facebook on Sunday.
It shows a taxi driver being assaulted by several men and two women.
Punched and kicked in head
At point in the very disturbing video, a women is seen punching the male victim in the face several times as he’s held down on the ground. The man was also kicked in the head whilst down on the ground.
After the video was shared on Facebook, several of those involved were named.
Yards from fatal attack
The assault took place just hundreds of yards from an attack that resulted in the tragic death of Carisbrooke father, Jeff Stacey.
