Local campaigners have welcomed the news that the official Leave campaign for the forthcoming EU referendum, Vote Leave, are planning to hold a rally on the Island to launch the campaign here.
Next Friday evening, 20th May, Iain Duncan-Smith MP will be the keynote speaker at the rally, where there will also be information available of how Islanders can get involved and help support the campaign.
Mr Turner said,
“I know there are a great many Islanders who want the Government to stop sending £350 million to the EU every week and take back control of our borders. Everybody who agrees can help by delivering leaflets, knocking on a few doors, helping with a street stall or making some telephone calls to help us win this referendum.
“I am very pleased that my colleague Iain Duncan-Smith MP has agreed to help us with the launch, this is one of the most important decisions facing us for an entire generation.
“I urge people who want to get involved to sign up to the official Vote Leave website.”
UKIP Councillor Daryll Pitcher added,
“Sometimes it can feel as though the Island is overlooked during national political campaigns. I’m pleased that Vote Leave realise that the Island will be an important battleground in the referendum and are arranging a speaker with a national profile to come along to support our local efforts. I look forward to working with Islanders of all parties and of none for a victory on June 23rd.”
Invitations to the rally and more information about the meeting will be issued shortly to Islanders signed up to the Vote Leave Website. Full details will also be made available to the media next week.
